TuAhn & Zachary...

Well... another FUN wedding!
Tu Ahn and Zach are originally from the Lansing, Michigan area but now live in Alabama so most of our correspondence was unfortunately through email. I finally got to meet Tu Ahn in person a month or so before the wedding and I knew right away that it was going to be a fun event!
She was funny and sarcastic (just like me) and was full of stories about her and Zach.
We had never filmed a Vietnamese wedding so we were definitely looking forward to seeing the different traditions! One tradition that we really LOVED and have talked about many times since was the eleven course dinner... seriously! Including crab, lobster, squid, shrimp, beef tenderloin, and an entire 25" fried walleye. It was an AWESOME spread! Family and friends had a blast eating and dancing the night away. Another thing I have to mention is that to successfully film an event dosen't only require an awesome venue and couples but also other great vendors. That said we had the opportunity to work with a photographer that we had never worked with before... Larissa Christine Photography. If you haven't seen her work, check it out!
Best wishes to Tu Ahn and Zach on their future together as Mr. and Mrs. Zachary Ostrander!

Sarah and Chuck...

If you look up the word "bliss" in the dictionary (Sarah and Chuck Bliss) it says "happiness and joy". I think their last name explains their wedding day perfect!
I talked to Sarah the day before her wedding and everything was going as planned except the weather.. rain was in the forecast! Driving to the bridal preps, I knew she was going to be bummed that is was foggy and starting to mist... I felt bad for her. Once we arrived to their suite at the Marriott Renaissance Center the love and excitement in the room pretty much made you forget about the threatening weather outside. Then a funny thing happened... Sarah slipped into her wedding dress and the clouds broke and the sun came out... it was a "bliss" moment:) Turned out to be a beautiful day... I love when that happens! The wedding ceremony was at St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church in Detroit. The church screamed HISTORY, it was beautiful! Our next stop was at the Heidelberg Project. Not sure how to explain the Heidelberg project other then to say if you have never seen it, you should check it out! Great place for a photo session.
Our final destination was the Century Banquet Center in Sterling Heights. Sarah and Chuck are HUGE dog lovers and you could tell by some of the decorations... dog cans painted and used as table vases, a dog statue cake topper, dog rescue donation made in lue of table favors... it was AWESOME! There was a vintage style candy station set up by Sarah's father for the kids, however, I think the adults enjoyed it more:)
So glad to have had the opportunity to capture Sarah and Chuck's special day and to once again work with one of our favorite photographers in Michigan Marek Dziekonski Photography!

Kerry & DeRone...

I sometimes feel sorry for other film makers in Michigan because I book the coolest couples and Kerry and DeRone are no exception! We started out the day with the girls at Kerry's parents beautiful home just off the Detroit River. Then it was off to Robert's River Walk Hotel to meet up with the guys and film Kerry and DeRone's first look along the river. Next stop was the Roostertail for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony was beautiful, Kerry and DeRone wrote their own vows and they were so ready to be married! The reception was a blast, the bride and groom came in the door dancing and pretty much kept dancing all night!

Pooja's Baby Shower...

That's right, we now shoot baby showers! We were recently asked by one of our favorite wedding and event DJ's in Detroit (DJ Naveen Productions) if we would be interested in shooting his wife's baby shower. It's going to be their first baby and and I'm not sure who is more excited... Mom or Dad:) Pooja's family is in India so they couldn't be at the baby shower so Naveen wanted to make sure it was well documented so they could still be a part of the special day. What a great family!
We wish the best for Pooja and Naveen on the arrival of their baby boy next month!

Weddings @ The Big House...

Last week the ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants) members had the opportunity to check out a hot new Ann Arbor venue... The Big House! The University Of Michigan is finishing up a multi- million dollar renovation to the athletic facility and they will now be hosting space for weddings and other events. It's not cheap to rent, but if you're a die hard Wolverine fan you can now walk out the tunnel, get married on the football field, dance in a club suite, tour the locker room and even have the marching band play for you... okay, the band costs a little extra:)
I created a short video of the event... hope you enjoy it!

Cherie & Jess...

Cherie and Jess were married at the Indian Springs Metro Park Environmental Discovery Center on July 23, 2011. If you have never been there you should check it out... really sweet place! They even have an aquarium under the pond that you can walk in just like Sea World... minus the sharks of course:) The ceremony was outside on the park grounds and even though the weather was threatening rain everything went as planned in the end. The reception was decorated very earthy... blue spruce, cork, wood, wine bottles and beautiful flowers... it was simple yet trendy... LOVED IT! Cherie, Jess, friends and family had the dance floor hopping all night.

Enjoy their wedding trailer!

Chelsea and Dan....

One of the hottest weddings of the year, and I'm not just talking about the couple.... It was like 100 degrees and humid! Aside from the temperatures outside we had a blast filming this beautiful wedding day. Started the day off at the Niemiec lake house filming the girls getting glamed up while the guys got ready (and had some fun) at the Centerpoint Marriott. The Ceremony was at Orchard Lake St. Marys Chapel. This was our first time filming there and I really like it, it’s a beautiful facility. After a quick photo shoot we were off to the Centerpoint Marriott for a HUGE party… I mean reception… but it was like a huge party… it was AWESOME. I’m not sure if I have ever seen a dance floor more packed, seriously the entire night! A top notch meal, an Elvis impersonator, Chelsea’s brothers singing “You Lost That Loving Feeling”, a photo/video booth, a candy stand, and a late night buffet consisting of sliders, coney dogs, french fries and pizza! So much fun!!!

Hope you enjoy their wedding trailer!

Kelly and Johnathon...

I met Kelly and Johnathon last October at Johnathon's sister Mae's wedding.  It was awesome seeing everyone again... they just make you feel like part of the family!  Kelly and Johnathon were married at a really cool church called St. Martin DePorres in Warren, MI.  After the ceremony we shot the photo/creative session at the Heritage Gardens in Shelby Township.  Final destination was Villa Penna's in Sterling Heights where we were totally amazed by the wall to wall flowers and beautiful decorations.  It was truly awesome!  A beautiful day, wedding, couple, family and friends... what more can I say... it was perfect.  Another great part of the day was working along side one of the most talented photographers in Michigan, and good friend Marek Dzienkonski from Marek Dzienkonski Photography.  If you havent seen his work, check it out!  Enjoy Kelly and Johnathon's wedding trailer :)

Laurie & Mike...

Laurie and Mike were married May 27th at the Greenmead Historical Chapel in Livonia, Michigan. It was a really cool place... sort of a smaller version of Greenfield Village. Both Laurie and Mike love vintage things... Laurie arrived in a late model Cadillac and wore a vintage style dress. Mike and all the guys had star wars figurines attached to their boutonnieres, and all the tables at the reception had bags of edible Legos!  Did I mention that they danced their first dance to "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory... TOO COOL! It was a fun day and we wish them all the best:)

Stacie & Joe at Cobblestone Farms

Well, it's a new year and that calls for something new. So welcome to my new blog and my first wedding of the season! Stacie and Joe are a super cool couple that I had the pleasure of working with in April of 2011. The wedding and reception took place at the beautiful Cobblestone farms in Ann Arbor, Michigan and although the weather was threatening rain all afternoon it ended up being a beautiful, Michigan spring day.  Behind every great event is an all star cast of professionals and this event was no exception!  Jeffrey from JLB Wedding Photography took photos that belong on a magazine cover, Mary Ann from Mary Ann Productions had the tunes rolling non stop, and thanks to Ana from TwoFoot Creative everything came together as perfectly planned.

Hope you enjoy the wedding trailer!
